- Gather everything you are going to need prior to starting. Boxes, paper for wrapping (preferably white butchers), tape, scissors and markers.
- Choose the correct box. Small, heavy things in to small boxes and larger, lighter items in to large boxes. And don’t under-pack or over-pack! If there is not enough in the box you run the risk of it collapsing when you stack and if you over-pack it may be too heavy to lift!
- Break down furniture such as bed frames and outdoor settings. Put screws and fittings in to plastic bags, label and tape to the disassembled furniture.
- Try to transport clothes using a port-a-robe (a purpose built packing box that has an in-built rail). Leave your clothes on the hangers, transfer them in to the port-a-robe and then transfer them to your storage. When they are ready to be transplanted in to your new wardrobe just slide the clothes from one rail to the other.
